The day a lost tiger brought the M11 to a standstill
Amy, a 10 year old, has a toy tiger called Tyrone. On a trip along the M11 Tyrone was sucked out of the open sunroof. Amys father, Mr Osborn, called the Police to see if they could recover said fluffy toy...
Essex police not only found Tyrone, but also set up a rolling road block so he could be recovered.
Amy said "They had to stop the traffic to get Tyrone. I think policemen are brilliant. I've had Tyrone for five years. He's my favourite bear
Talking heads are saying "what a waste of money" and the "amount of disruption was excessive".
Andrew Rosindell, Tory MP for Romford, said: "I think our police have a reputation for going the extra mile to satisfy the public - in that spirit I think it's all very well.
"But I think the disproportionate chaos that this would have caused and the cost involved, not to mention the fact that the police would not be out catching criminals, doesn't seem to justify the action taken.
"I'd prefer to see these officers on the streets and chasing burglars."
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Tyrone was spotted on the motorway and successfully captured and locked securely in the back of a police car.
"Rolling roadblocks were set up to allow the traffic officers to safely get out of their car and grab him.
"A phone call to dad in Ramsgate has resulted in one delighted daughter.
"We did not specifically task the officer to find Tyrone but, having children of his own, he knows the importance of toys to their owners.
"It was a minor inconvenience to motorists which I am sure would have been acceptable to all those who have experienced similar circumstances."
Police said Tyrone had been sent from Essex to Kent courtesy of Royal Mail, to be reunited with Amy.
I think maybe a childs smile was probably worth it.
